Our West Michigan client is looking for a talented EHS professional to manage the programs at their primary plant in the Pentwater area and their finishing plant in Holland Michigan. Travel to the Holland plant is typically one day a week. This heavy manufacturing industry company is looking for a dynamic professional capable of influencing all levels within the organization for maximum engagement and to move compliance performance to the next level. This is very much a hands-on, plant floor oriented EHS expert and mentor role!
Seeking an EHS Manager with manufacturing experience who is passionate about leveraging their influence to enhance our safety culture at our two Michigan facilities. This position will implement and programs associated with the operation and maintenance of the foundry, including the permitting process, auditing and inspections. The EHS Manager will ensure the timely preparation and reporting of documents that demonstrate compliance of our two facilities to all the proper governmental agencies such as OSHA/MIOSHA, EPA and other relevant agencies. Safety initiatives will also be a primary focus for this position; ensuring providing guidance on equipment specifications to prevent unsafe work environments, maintaining facility emergency action plans and conducting periodic drills; coordinating the employee safety committee and leading the first-aid team and ensuring training and certifications are current. Ensures appropriate training in areas as wastewater, forklift and PPE and provides daily guidance at the employee/supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach to safety.
Success in this position requires excellent communication skills, verbal, written and listening, superior technical and problem-solving capabilities, strong planning, organizational, prioritization skills, strong MS-Office skills and commitment to developing, implementing and measuring the effectiveness of process and operational improvements. Strong understanding of workplace ergonomics is preferred.
Bachelors’ degree in Environmental Engineering and Industrial Hygiene or related health sciences plus five years of progressively responsible experience in EH&S, preferably in manufacturing. Ten years of production experience in a management position, familiarity with foundry processes such as green sand molding, cupola melt, preferred as is a degree in engineering, materials or metallurgy.
