Engineering Software Implementation and Training Consultant

(PLM, EPDM, PDM experience)


We are growing!

Working closely with our Sales Team, you'll work on a post-sales basis assisting our new and existing customers with implementing and training on our Engineering software.  

This Position requires local, national and international travel. The successful candidate will need a valid driver’s license and an insured vehicle, which would be required for the local travel to customer sites. Mileage will be reimbursed at the standard rate.

You will have the ability to travel from your residence to our client's site to implement our software and data management systems.  After successful implementation, you'll train the new client on how to use all aspects of the newly acquired software. 

You do not have to relocate for this role and you can live anywhere in the United States to work in this capacity. 

This is a full time, permanent, opportunity requiring the ability to travel an approximate 75%-80%. 


Overall Responsibilities include:

Responsible to fully implement the Company’s data and document management solutions for our clients throughout North America. The primary goal of the Application Consultant is to create for our customer’s significant value and ROI from their investment in our data and document management solutions.

The Application/Implementation Consultant will be the primary technical resource for customer implementation projects, including providing post sales implementation training, system installation and configuration, and support to assigned customers.


Responsible to train and learn to achieve expert level knowledge of the Company’s data and document management solutions.

Responsible to attain an overview of each project from the project manager prior to engaging with any client.

You are ultimately responsible for ensuring that you are fully prepared for all engagements.

Responsible to consult with clients to understand their current, "as-is" situation, requirements, goals, network infrastructure and topology, legacy data, CAD systems, and workflow processes to develop a solid implementation plan for the Solution in which they invested.

Responsible to document the "as-is" situation and write up the plan and recommendations in a client deliverable document.

Responsible to fully and successfully implement and configure the purchased "Solution" for the client, including server and client software installation, database configuration, metadata tracking, legacy data import, workflow setup, user and group permissions and more.

The implementation may be in local, wide area and internet topologies.

Responsible to deliver and administer user training.

Responsible to communicate status of the implementation from the client site to the project manager at least three (3) times per week.

Responsible to complete a service report within 2 days of any service engagement, documenting actual time spent on the project, and outstanding issues or concerns.

Responsible to complete and submit a travel expense report within 2 business days of any service engagement.

Responsible to communicate feedback from the client to the project manager and account manager.

Responsible for monitoring project activities in line with project scope, and immediately communicating with the project manager any requests or situations which appear to be outside of the defined project scope.

Responsible to provide client feedback and your own feedback to the product management team about ways the product can be improved.

Responsible to provide feedback to the project manager about what went well and how things could have gone more smoothly, to ensure constant improvement.

Responsible to help in other areas when not actively engaged in preparing for or delivering on a project.

These areas may include software testing and logging of issues, sales support including technical discussions or demonstrations, and Helpdesk support, or as directed by the Sr. Director of Data Management Services.

 Required Experience:

* 3+ years administering, consulting, implementing, configuring or supporting data and/or document management solutions, PDM, PLM, EDM or other enterprise software solutions strongly preferred

* Strong IT background a major plus (i.e., having been a CAD Administrator, or IT Administrator are good examples)

* Background in 2D or 3D CAD a major plus

* Industry experience in engineering, design or manufacturing a major plus

* Ability to create rapport quickly and build strong relationships

* Strong oral and written communication skills required

* Strong presentation skills required

* Ability to remain calm and foster calm and trust in others in pressurized situations

* Must desire and have an ability to travel extensively, for a week or two at a time

* Character, drive and ambition to succeed

* College or technical degree preferred

* Proven record of over-achievement
