This position reports to the VP of Global Operations in the US with a dotted line to the VP of Continuous Improvement in the US and to Global VP of Operations in the UK. Works with the management teams and staff at each site to achieve continuous improvement. The Lean Champion will apply Lean tools and techniques to identify and eliminate waste and to improve customer and employee satisfaction.
Apply the System and tools to achieve goals in the Strategic Deployment and KPI improvement process.
Work as the Managers improvement consultant by recommending and running kaizen events targeted at the specific business goals.
Collaborate with Managers to develop a road map for Lean implementation at each site.
Provide training in Lean tools and techniques to employees at each location.
Facilitate Kaizen events to drive continuous improvement, including joint events with customers, suppliers and Handy & Harman corporate staff.
Develop metrics, scorecards and other indicators to assess the effectiveness of Lean activities.
Exhibit proficiency in a wide range of process improvement tools for the identification and elimination of waste, and apply these as required.

Value Stream Mapping & Process Mapping
3P - 5P, /Problem Solving, Variation Reduction
Material Flow (Pull System, Kanban, lot-forming)
Set-up Time Reduction/SMED
Standard Work Instructions
Total Productive Maintenance
GEMBA Boards, metrics, Visual Management Boards (shop and transactional areas)
5S+Safety, Visual Management
Collaborate with Operations Excellence Council to share best practices and to assist in improvement activities.
Demonstrate positive impact on safety, quality, cost, delivery and inventory as a result of Lean activities.
Strong Presentation Skills required.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work with all levels of the organization from executives to shop floor employees.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related field. 3-5 years' experience in a production environment, in applying Lean principles and tools, with direct experience in the application of the Production System or Business System a plus.
Demonstrated initiative and desire to drive change and is motivated to exceed expectations.
Possesses statistical knowledge and the ability to apply analysis techniques to product and process improvement projects.
Demonstrated expertise in basic manufacturing principles, with metalworking, stamping, casting and extruding experience a plus.
Demonstrated expertise in various Lean principles and tools, including waste identification and elimination, problem solving/root cause analysis, instituting pull systems, TPM, 55, visual management, SMED, standard work, etc. Lean, Lean Sigma, or Six Sigma certification a plus
Ability to travel domestic sites and internationally.
