StepBeyond Solutions, a leader in electronics manufacturing recruiting, has been asked by our client to identify a Manufacturing Engineer for a manufacturing company in a suburb of Portland.
The position includes planing, directing, and coordinating the manufacturing processes in industrial plant that manufactures modern electronic assemblies by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develops process standards and makes recommend to management, engineers, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and process improvements to facilitate production processes with a thorough understanding of surface mounted electronic assemblies and all the processes involved in their manufacturing.
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
Identify, design, manufacture and install customized fixtures for the production and material handling.
Prioritize projects and establish timeframes and project cost estimates for review and approval.
Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Design appropriate equipment and coordinate the electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and pneumatic schematics.
Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
Prepare drawings and parts requirements and determine most cost-effective means of production (in-house or vendor outsource). Accurately document and retain project records.
Provide technical support to production, maintenance, and sales departments for new business opportunities as well as conduct machine operator training for equipment modifications.
Initiate and promote continuous improvement principles of Lean Manufacturing throughout the organization to reduce cost and increase productivity.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
B.S. degree in engineering (preferred) and 2 to 5 years’ experience; or eight to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Must have the legal, permanent right to work in the United States.
Must sign a Non-Compete agreement upon acceptance of this position.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format; to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations; to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
