Operations Superintendent – Silica Sand Mining and Processing

Summary

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, The Operations Superintendent will be responsible for leadership, safety, production and quality involving all plant personnel, processes and equipment. SOUTH CENTRAL US LOCATION. COMPETITIVE BASE SALARY PLUS BONUS,  COMPREHENSIVE BENEFITS, RETIREMENT AND RELOCATION ASSISTANCE.

Responsibilities
  • Assure safety, health, and environmental regulations and policies are enforced at all times
  • Direct plant activities to achieve optimal operating costs while maintaining production so shipments are made as scheduled and product quality meets customer requirements
  • Complete assigned projects in a timely manner
  • Delegate to plant supervisors as needed to accomplish tasks and assignment
  • Ensure training is completed as per the annual training plan
  • Ensure the established maintenance program is adhered to
  • Prepare and maintain daily and weekly production and maintenance reporting as required. Write and present other reports as requested
  • Initiate corrective action necessary to improve or maintain efficient operations. Bring problems or potential problems to the attention of appropriate supervisors and the Plant Manager
  • Maintain the “open door” policy to assure good relations with staff and hourly work force
  • Handle disciplinary actions per employee handbook and work to settle employee problems 
  • Assist in resolving customer complaints
  • Assist in preparation of capital plans and completion of capital projects
  • Review hourly employee time cards prior to submittal
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Previous management experience within a mining or industrial environment: at least 2 years of daily supervision in a similar environment. 
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A safety-focused approach to leadership is required
  • Experience working with MSHA is preferred.
