Manage the onsite construction of a sand processing facility including ground up construction of a dry plant, 2 trans-load sites and modifications to an existing wet plant facility. Plant Manager will be responsible for building an organization from the ground up, recommending organizational structure and then coordinating efforts with a corporate office. Coordinate all production related activities at sand mining and processing facility. Directly supervise all supervisors that will mine, process, and ship a quality product. Insure the highest level of safety standards are maintained. Provide technical assistance to improve processing procedures and equipment to maximize production and reduce cost. Track all costs and account for all variances between actual and planned cost. Develop operating and capital budgets to insure long term viability of facility.
Be the leader of a safety program that strives for zero accidents. Establish and maintain safe working conditions and practices for all employees’. Insure compliance to all federal, state and local Safety and Health Regulations. Strive for continual improvements in a safety program that will protect all employees, contractors, and visitors to company property.
Specific knowledge of API and ISO testing methods and standards for Frac Sand. Shipping products which meet quality specifications and market requirements. Continuously monitor and improve quality program. Ensure company quality program is followed.
Monitor onsite construction of sand processing facility insuring Company policies and procedures are being followed and assuring all contractors follow engineering design.
Develop and monitor KPI’s which will provide a high standard of performance for plant operating personnel. Insure facility operates at or above maximum design capacity. Identify bottlenecks and offer solutions to continuously increase capabilities of facilities.
Process sand at the lowest cost consistent with highest safety, customer service and quality requirements, achieving or exceeding monthly budgeted facility cost.
Preserving, maintaining and using the plant property and facilities to produce at capacity on a dependable basis; assuring neat and orderly conditions with the buildings, equipment and on grounds at all times.
Assist in planning for capacity expansion. Effectively plan for machinery and equipment renewal, replacement, or modernization and technical advances to assure an economic and profitable operation on a long term basis.
Selection, development, retention, and motivation of an effective staff and work force, organized for optimum use of its capabilities and ensuring adequate continuity for operational and managerial skills. Furnishing opportunity for individual growth and development of plant personnel.
Directly supervise the activities of the Production Supervisors and Maintenance Supervisor, coordinating their efforts.
Ensure plant compliance to all City, State, County and Federal regulatory requirements.
Implement and enforce all company policies.
A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, with at least five (5) years related experience in a mining and minerals processing environment.
Capable of managing large capital projects from the design, estimation and conceptualization phase through to the construction and completion.
Strong managerial, interpersonal, and communication skills
Knowledge of mining equipment and techniques a plus.
A comprehensive knowledge of MSHA, and OSHA regulations and a working knowledge of EPA, and other environmental regulatory agencies as they pertain to the sand industry
Computer literacy and technical report writing skills is essential
Candidate must have general working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic functions of a sand processing facility
Must be physically capable of climbing stairs and ladders and of other means of accessing equipment and work areas to perform equipment and safety inspections.
Adequate vision and hearing will be required for safe pedestrian movement through a plant environment and for inspection of equipment and job stations.
