Responsible for direct mining, production & shipping, and maintenance activities. Execute plans and achieve production goals at the lowest cost consistent with safety and quality requirements. 
  • Responsible for the safety of approximately 100 salaried and hourly employees at this union facility.
  • Direct processing activities, which include: mine excavation and material handling, crushing, grinding, wet sizing, pumping, flotation, filtering, draining, drying, and screening, product loadout, bagging, tailings and other waste handling etc..
  • Oversee coordination and scheduling of maintenance for all plant operations and ancillary facilities
  • Oversee coordination and compliance with Long-term mine, reclamation, and waste disposal plans
  • Direct the supervision of quality control procedures for all operations
  • Oversee the supervision of production scheduling
  • Monitor operations to ensure compliance with MSHA regulations for safety and health
  • Advise Plant Manager of any problems or potential problems which affect the ability of the operation to produce in a safe, timely, efficient manner, including, but not limited to, personnel, equipment, transportation, quality, and raw materials
  • Collect, check, and forward necessary labor and operating data for submission of required reports
  • Monitor environmental control systems to ensure compliance with governmental regulations
  • Review, approve, and recommend actions regarding staffing, compensation, development, and training of operating personnel 
  • Maintain acceptable labor and employee relations. Handle discipline and third step grievances 
  • Lead and facilitate site managed capital projects
  • Prepare, submit, and administer plant processing budgets and estimates to include capital and operating expenses
  • Perform other duties as assigned
College degree is required;  Mining or other engineering discipline is highly preferred.
5+ years management experience in an open pit mining environment.
Commitment to the highest safety and environmental standards, and able to take full responsibility for safety at the operation with minimum supervision
A team player with good interpersonal skills,
A good facilitator with an ability to resolve conflict
Able to work effectively under pressure
