Our client, a global leader in manufacturing products used in the automobile industry, has commissioned Sterling St. James, LLP to source, screen and qualify candidates for an opening for a Quality Manager in their Kansas City plant. They are North America’s largest automobile parts manufacturer of original equipment parts. They design, engineer, test and manufacture exterior systems, interior systems, seating systems, closure systems, vision systems, power train systems, electronic systems, roof systems, body and chassis systems, hybrid & electric vehicle systems and do contract assembly. They have a 60 year history of providing excellent products and service.

Job Duties:
  • Responsibility for management of all Quality activities
  • Ensure policies and procedures exist and are effective
  • Ensure appropriate systems are in place to track quality.
  • Ensure customer needs are met.
  • Responsible to make sure all APQP & PDP responsibilities are taking place.
  • Ensure Quality reporting is being handled and taking place with the customer.
  • Oversee the development of new suppliers, pursue cost reduction ideas, research and correct causes of inventory errors.
  • Make sure the environment is safe, free of hazards and unsafe conditions are identified corrected & eliminated. Train new associates, correct or commend associates health and safety performance. Conduct performance appraisals & associates safety performance.
  • Administer and insure compliance with the Quality Management System requirements as outlined in the policy manuals.
  • Oversee and coordinate of all Engineering Changes and production evaluation runs.
  • Participate in APQP & PDP events and complete tasks as required.
  • Designate personnel with responsibility and authority to ensure that customer requirements are addressed. Including special characteristics setting quality objectives and related training corrective and preventive actions, product design and development.
  • Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner
  • Additional responsibilities as needed to effectively do the job
  • Communicate sourcing suggestions of Quality Performance to Corporate Purchasing and Plant Manager
  • Define the responsibility for the quality department.
  • Install a reporting structure to convey supplier performance to management staff and purchasing department.
  • Ability to make decisions on whether product meets quality standards.
  • Ability to act as representative for environmental department if they are not available.
  • Decision making power on PDP and APQP issues as assigned on deliverable matrix #141.
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in progressive supervisory responsibility
  • Knowledgeable in Quality systems and tools APQP & MRP, Statistics and FMEA’s
  • Proficient in computer software:
    • Word processing, spreadsheets, databases, inventory control
  • Good communication skills
    • Verbal
    • Written
    • Listening
    • Ability to make presentations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to maintain a positive work atmosphere by setting “the example”
