Our client, a multinational company that develops, manufactures and distributes products for commercial vehicles, has commissioned Sterling St. James, LLP to source, screen and qualify candidates for a Senior Quality Engineer position in their Kansas City location.
This is a fast paced position. You will be working in an environment that is in the early evolutionary cycle of driverless vehicles. It doesn’t get any more exciting than this. Ground floor – leading edge!

POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role is responsible for facilitating al APQP activities during program management, providing quality leadership to ensure compliance to corporate Project Management Model for successful project launches, supporting post launch activities with customers as required. This position will support design and maintenance activities for Quality Systems at Americas manufacturing and distribution centers and North America Headquarters office.

DUTIES & RESPONISBILITIES:
  • Facilitate all APQP activities to ensure quality of the event
  • Own and lead key characteristic maps and control plans
  • Support/facilitate FMEA at corresponding project stages, and effective linkage to Customer Specific Requirements and project critical to quality deliverables
  • Own and lead key characteristic map and development of Control Plan, Inspection Methods and Process Controls per project
  • Support Sourcing/SQA teams impacting project
  • Own and lead all program/product 8D's pre-launch
  • Evaluate compliance to HPMM processes/procedures prior to phase exits
  • Support tracking/implementation of Customer Specific Requirements at Corporate Level
  • Support warranty data analysis for definition/resolution of action plans
  • Own and lead 8Ds spanning Plant and Corporate functions interaction
  • Lead/support activities at HQ Office and Plants for QMS standards: e.g. ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949 (IATF 16949)
 
 
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3-5 years’ work experience
  • 4 Year Engineering Degree
  • Experience in Automotive Industry or Tier 1 Supplier
  • Working experience with APQP
  • PPAP submission experience
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 50% of time
  • Previous Plant / Manufacturing experience

  • Quality Supplier background
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Project Management Training / Experience
  • Experience with Problem Solving / Root Cause Projects for customers
  • Corporate office experience
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • ISO/TS 16949 Experience
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
