Retail Field Industrial Engineer

Business: Supply Chain, Distribution and Operations

Job Summary: The Industrial Engineer postion supports the logistics organization through a variety of projects focused on enhancing productvity, maximizing throughput and ensuring workplace safety.

Responisbilities

  • Lead the development and maintenance of an accurate and effective Work Measurement System. Ensures effective productivity measurements are established for identified functions in the distribution center through time studies and frequency studies conducted in the distribution center.
  • Lead the evaluation and subsequent revision of all work methods and workflow for all fuctions to ensure they are ergonomically correct.
  • Lead the training of management and hourly workforce on productivity and work methods.
  • Lead the effort to established and maintain "Best Methods" for all job functions.
  • Lead / Perform the analysis, recommendation, and implementation of enhancements to existing work methods flows and processes to increase throughput.
  • Lead the efforts to develop and design distribution center and office area layouts.
  • Lead the collection of data to assist in the development of distribution center and capital budgets.
  • Lead the analysis and cost justification on all capital project requests.
  • Lead the design, selection and installation of material handling equipment incorporation into existing, new and expanded distribution centers
  • Lead the research of technological advances in material handling sytems to develop cost-effective improvements to operating methods and procedures to support purchase recommendations
  • Accountable for maintaining budget on all projects and ensuring the company is obtaining the most cost effective price
  • Work effectively with external resources (consultants and contractors) to ensure collaborative partnerships to meet business requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering required
  • Unlimited Travel (at least 50% of the time) required (So. Cal. position 20% travel)
  • Experience with work measurement methodologies and tools with emphasis on TIME STUDY expertise required
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in projects related to process design, work measurement, productivity improvement, cost reduction and project implementation required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience working in DISTRIBUTION environment with work standards required
  • Experience in best methods development
  • Experience in the development of management observation program
  • Experience in the development of an accountability program
  • Experience with productivity tracking, data collection systems
  • Experience with Standard Data and Predetermined Time Systems
  • Experience performing cost analysis for project justification
  • Strong ability to gather, analyze and interpret information and develop, recommend and implement solutions while maintaining budget
  • Excellent planning, organization and problem solving skills
  • Excellent PC Skills - Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint
  • Effective communication skills; demonstrate ability to interact across a broad range of organizational levels and functions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with little to no direct supervision
